Mission Statement

PAVIR works with more than 100 Principal Investigators, both clinician scientists whose time is divided between patient care and research, and those whose sole responsibility is research, at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS).  This VA Research includes not only clinical research, but basic science investigating disease mechanisms in the laboratory as well as data driven health services research developing improved models of health care delivery.  VA Research addresses health challenges especially prevalent in Veterans, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), geriatric medicine and polytrauma as well as other public health issues.
